LaVonne Torrence Berner

LaVonne Torrence Berner is founder and principal attorney at Torrence Law Office, LLC.

 

LaVonne’s career in commercial real estate began in 1999 and includes representing national and regional landlords, retailers and the government of the District of Columbia in a wide range of complex shopping center, mixed use, new development, street retail, office and transactions. LaVonne also routinely counsels multi-family and residential portfolio investors in transactional and operational matters.

 

Prior to founding Torrence Law Office, LLC, LaVonne was on the team of lease negotiators for an international retail development and management company and an attorney at a mid-size commercial real estate law firm. LaVonne has also litigated unlawful employment practices cases in state and federal court.

 

LaVonne is applauded by clients for providing clear, strategic, and cost-conscious advice and representation and for zeroing in on the details necessary to protect client interests and address client concerns while moving transactions as swiftly as possible. LaVonne’s industry knowledge and practical down to earth personality are highly valued by clients.

LaVonne is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Maryland State Bar Association. She is also on the Community Development Advisory Committee for Montgomery County, Maryland and a former board member of the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce.

 

Representative Matters:

  • Serve as real estate counsel in the District of Columbia in the disposition of a 49-unit multifamily project for $5,250,000.00.
  • Serve as counsel for the landlord and manager of eight shopping centers totaling over 1,250,000 square feet of retail space. 
  • Serve as leasing counsel for an international brand franchisee/licensee operating 75 retail locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • Serve as leasing counsel for a national restaurant chain franchisee operating nine (9) locations. 
  • Serve as real estate counsel in transactional and operations matters for a premier wholesaler with over 300 wholesaler transaction closings. ​
