LaVonne Torrence Berner

LaVonne’s Torrence Berner is Principal Attorney at Torrence Law Office, LLC. LaVonne offers representation in all facets of commercial real estate transactions, including sale and acquisition of multi-family and residential portfolio properties; sale, acquisition and leasing of retail, office, commercial condominium and mixed-use properties; development and redevelopment of commercial, mixed use, and multi-family properties; finance transactions; and business transactions.


LaVonne's career in commercial real estate began in 1999 and includes representing commercial property owners, investors, managers, tenants and government in a wide range of complex transactions.


Prior to founding Torrence Law Office, LLC, LaVonne was an associate attorney at a Maryland commercial real estate focused law firm. She was also a lender liaison, a senior paralegal and on the team of lease negotiators of an international shopping mall development and management company.


LaVonne earned her Juris Doctorate from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where she served as a student attorney in the Advocacy for the Elderly Law Clinic. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from the College of Behavioral and Social Science at the University of Maryland at College Park, where she was recognized for academic honors.


LaVonne is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia and also carries a real estate broker license.


LaVonne is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Maryland State Bar Association.  She is also on the Community Development Advisory Committee for Montgomery County, Maryland and a former board member of the Maryland Black Chamber of Commerce.
