LaVonne Torrence Berner is founder and principal attorney at Torrence Law Office, LLC.


LaVonne’s career in commercial real estate began in 1999 and includes representing national and regional landlords, retailers, and local government in a wide range of complex shopping center, flex space, mixed use, new development, street retail, and office lease transactions. LaVonne also routinely counsels multi-family and residential portfolio investors in transactional and operational matters.


Prior to founding Torrence Law Office, LLC, LaVonne was on the team of lease negotiators for an international retail development and management company and an attorney at a mid-size commercial real estate law firm.  LaVonne has also litigated unlawful employment practices cases in state and federal court.


LaVonne is applauded by clients for providing clear, strategic, and cost-conscious advice and representation and for zeroing in on the details necessary to protect client interests and address client concerns while moving transactions as swiftly as possible.   • Serve as leasing counsel to an institutional landlord with over 6,000,000 square feet of retail, office, flex, industrial, and warehouse space.
  • Served as leasing counsel for the initial lease up of a 5 level, 270,000+ square feet retail lifestyle center.
  • Represented regional and institutional landlords in connection with portfolio wide leasing to national retail and restaurant tenants and franchisees.
  • Serviced as leasing counsel for a local municipality for charter school ground leases and the municipality's lease of office space.
  • Served as acting general counsel for the restaurant division of a private investment company in connection with leasing single tenant parcels in multiple jurisdictions across the United States.
  • Served as lender liaison and senior paralegal responsible for quality control of leases with national retailers negotiated by outside counsel for an international publicly traded REIT that owned and managed over 30 million square feet of retail space in first class super regional retail and entertainment centers.
